19th Century French Romantic Scene, by Joseph Caraud
The painting follows faithfully the style of Louis XV period, with romantic subject, fine and delicate costume, and soft and gentle color palette. Its details offers luminosity which matches the romantic atmosphere. Joseph Caraud entered the École des Beaux-Arts of Paris in 1844.
He was appointed Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur in 1867. Caraud’s paintings are now found in Musée de Tessé in Le Mans, Musée des Ursulines in Mâcon, Musée des Beaux-Arts in Carcassonne and Musée Antoine Lécuyer in Saint-Quentin en-Yvelines in France.
